Web Site Management: Creating and Managing a Web Site (Level 3)

Prerequisites

This two-part course will describe good-practice aspects of designing, building and running a web site, and providing information on a web server. The requirements for providing accessible web pages, utilising the site-wide search engine on your web pages and liaising with a web design company are also covered.

A sound knowledge of HTML/XHTML, as covered on the Level 1 and Level 2 Web Page Authoring courses and the Cascading Style Sheets Introduction, will be assumed.

• Accessibility, usability and standards - checking your pages
• Providing accessible web information
• Dealing with web design companies
• Content management - overview of tools and how to choose one that's appropriate
• Optimising how your pages are indexed
• Extending your web pages - wikis, blogs and discussion boards

Presentation/demonstrations with practical at end.
