Web Authoring: XML Introduction (Level 3)

Prerequisites

This course will introduce XML (the Extensible Markup Language). The course will cover the use of XHTML 1.0 which is a reformulation of HTML 4.01 in XML. The course will also introduce and use XSL (the eXtensible Markup Language).

Those attending should have a working knowledge of HTML e.g. having attended the intermediate-level HTML course and, ideally, have created their own pages.

• Syntax of XML
• Syntax of XSL
• The use of the eXtensible Stylesheet Language Transformation using TestXSLT
• The use of Tidy for syntax checking and conversion of HTML 4.01 to XHTML
