SPSS (Statistical Package): Basic Part 2 Prerequisites
SPSS is a powerful general purpose statistical package with high quality graphics and tabulation facilities, and a reputation for being relatively user-friendly. This session follows on from Part 1 and covers useful techniques and tricks. It is strongly recommended for anyone likely to use SPSS for any but the very simplest analysis of the very simplest data.
The course assumes that you have previously attended Part 1 or are familiar with the material covered.

- Preparing data and importing data from MS Excel
- Working with various types of outputs
- Exporting output to other applications
- Working with pivot tables
- Creating and formatting tables and charts
- Describing data with tables and charts
Presentations, demonstrations and practicals.
SPSS v. 16 on PWF Windows
- No attempt is made to teach statistical techniques, though simple examples are used to show the principles of SPSS use. The self-teach course Statistics for the Terrified is available.
- Practicals will be run on PCs using SPSS for Windows.
- Both Parts 1 and 2 must be separately registered for.
- The follow-up Beyond the Basics course builds on this foundation and is strongly recommended.
